Australia and New Zealand Mycoses Interest Group
ANZMIG promotes excellence in clinical and laboratory mycology through education, and collaborative clinical and translational research and advocacy focussed on improving patient-centred outcomes.
Overview and Committee
ANZMIG aims to:
- Foster and advance education and training in the pathogenesis, microbiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of fungal infections.
- Develop national guidelines for management of mycological infections.
- Facilitate and promote investigator-initiated, collaborative clinical and applied mycological research throughout Australia and New Zealand.
- Contribute to program development of other ad hoc educational meetings involving Mycology.
- Advocate for optimal prevention, diagnosis and management of fungal infections, within a one health approach.
ANZMIG educational activities include:
- Organising the Mycology Masterclass Program every two years.
- Inviting Advanced Trainees in Infectious Diseases/Microbiology to present their work at three ANZMIG Educational meetings each year.
- ANZMIG Symposia at the ASID Annual Scientific Meeting.
- ANZMIG – Asia fungal Working Group (ISHAM) webinars every 3 months
- Contributions to ASID INTREPID webinars
- ANZMIG awards a seed grant to an ASID member valued at $20,000 every 2 years to support a collaborative research project led by an early career researcher.
