ASID Annual Scientific Conference - Lorne

Even before you arrive in Lorne the Great Ocean Road will have stimulated  your senses. The Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Apollo Bay is a particularly scenic section of this popular tourist route with the road hugging the coastline for much of its 45 kilometre journey between these two major centres. Along the way are attractions such as the Mount Defiance Lookout, the small coastal communities of Separation Creek, Wye River and Kennett River, and the fantastic views along the coast from the lookout at Cape Patton.

Once arrived in Lorne, you will appreciate the picture-postcard scenery of this beautiful seaside town set between the waters of Loutit Bay and the cool Otway forests.

Visitors will enjoy the natural surrounds, whether lazing on the sheltered 2-kilometre beach or discovering the Erskine Falls cascading into a beautiful fern gully in the Great Otway National Park. Alternatively, relax with a latte at a sidewalk café, explore the shops, boutiques and galleries or dine on freshly caught seafood at a local restaurant.

As one of the Great Ocean Road's most popular stopovers, Lorne has a charm that's hard to surpass.
