The Healthcare Infection Control Special Interest Group (HICSIG) provides a forum for ASID members that have clinical and/or research interests in infection prevention & control and/or antimicrobial stewardship.

This has an extensive range of reference material and news items archived over 5 years. Considerable effort is expended to ensure that all international developments in the field are noted.
Objectives
Strategic focus
HICSIG members participate in relevant public policy development and national initiatives. HICSIG closely collaborates with the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control on Infection Prevention & Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship issues and initiatives, where possible developing joint position statements and guidelines.
Information exchange
HICSIG promotes the exchange of infomation and ideas among physicians and others with a special interest in infection prevention & control and antimicrobial stewardship.
Education
HICSIG provides further education on infection prevention & control and antimicrobial stewardship through the organisation of annual meetings, symposia at the annual ASID scientific meeting, newsletters and web updates. It fosters publication of scientific proceedings and other materials including reviews and clinical guidelines.
Research
HICSIG fosters and promotes collaborative research among group member institutions. It aims to highlight existing and new research opportunities in the field of infection prevention & control and antimicrobial stewardship.
HICSIG Membership
HICSIG membership is open to all interested members of ASID. Full and Associate ASID members can opt to be HICSIG members by updating their membership profile. Associates, please apply using the membership application form. The initial free period for doing this has now expired.
